Product History

Looking for a fouta that does it all, without overdoing it? Our beige mottled cotton fouta is the ideal ally for simple minds... and stylish ones. With its practical 130x170 cm size, it goes everywhere: on the beach, at a picnic, or simply on a sofa at home.

Made from 100% cotton, this single-ply fouta is lightweight, breathable and ultra-soft to the touch. Its natural texture and beige hue mottled with white give it a discreet charm that's easy to match to any environment. We also love its dark beige cotton bangs, which add a touch of elegance to the ensemble.

It's the kind of piece you grab without thinking, because you know it will always do the job: thrown on a bed, folded in a basket, placed on a deckchair or even used as an extra towel.

And because a cozy interior often starts with the right details, this cotton fouta alone brings warmth, texture and softness to your spaces.

For this collection, we chose to place our trust in weavers as passionate as we are. And why didn't we choose to produce closer to home?
Because India is the world's second-largest cotton-growing country. Its hot, humid climate, more specifically the monsoon, is ideal for growing cotton. The latter requires a temperature of over 15° and lots of water for most of its cycle. We chose India not only because we wanted to offer you unique patterns and textures from this region that are pleasant to the touch, but also because they are easy to care for, crease-resistant and durable.

Country of origin: INDIA

Our collection of linen-effect cotton foutas is made in the cradle of the world's textile industry: India. The weavers with whom we collaborate are true pioneers in working with this material, and are also concerned with human rights. They founded the Nanhi Yaara Development Society, an NGO dedicated to protecting young women and their environment. This notion is also known as "empowerment". The aim of this NGO is to combat female foeticide (India has one of the world's highest rates) and to help women take their place in society, guiding them to build their own path to success and respect. It's a choice we're very proud of.

Caring for Your Product

To care for your linen-effect cotton foutas, we recommend machine-washing at 40° maximum, without fabric softener. They can then be tumble-dried at low temperature. Don't dry-clean or iron, however, to avoid losing the softness of the cotton.

Shipping and Returns

Every order passes through the expert (and gentle) hands of Patrick, Patrice, and Simon—our cardboard masters—Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except on holidays—let’s not push it). They do their very best to ensure your package ships within 48 hours. If it sometimes takes a little longer, don’t panic: your throw is in very good hands. Our packers are human (yes, really), so a small mistake might slip in. If that happens, contact us: we’ll always find a solution. And if the carrier decides that your neighbor—the one you don’t like—deserves your throw before you do… just know that, unfortunately, we can’t control the whole neighborhood. What we can promise you, however, is that we put our whole hearts into making sure your orders arrive quickly, safely, and with the same softness as our throws.

At Waro, we invite you to shop with both heart and reason: we promise, neither the size nor the color of your throw will change during shipping. Not sure which shade is perfect for your living room? Email our softness experts (bonjour@thewaro.com)—they love giving decor advice. But if, despite everything, your throw isn’t quite right for you, you can return it within 14 days here. Conditions: original packaging, throw must be unfolded and unused (save the “couch night” test for later). A €9.99 fee will be deducted from your refund. But if you choose to exchange it… no fees at all. Softness, at no extra cost.

The fouta, soft and light

Originally, the fouta was the centerpiece of hammams in the Maghreb and the Middle East. Prized for its lightness and ultra-fast drying ability, it naturally became the ideal companion for beaches and swimming pools. A textile designed to move, travel, and breathe.

Our Waro foutas are woven from 100% cotton, with an airy weave that makes all the difference. The fabric breathes, quickly absorbs moisture, and dries in just a few minutes—where a traditional towel would take hours.

Another advantage that makes all the difference in everyday life: the cotton fouta doesn’t trap sand. A simple shake is all it takes to get rid of it. Because the best moments of summer shouldn’t end with shaking out your towel. Days spent between the sea and the sand

One last thing to note about our foutas?

The durability of a fouta depends above all on the quality of the cotton and the care taken in weaving it. Waro foutas are made from natural cotton selected to withstand repeated washings, saltwater, and sunlight without losing their color or softness. Unlike low-end foutas that start to fray after just two seasons, a Waro cotton fouta improves with time: it becomes softer, more absorbent, and retains its elegant drape summer after summer.

That’s the question everyone is asking, and it’s a valid one. A thin fouta may seem less effective than a thick terry cloth towel, but the opposite is true. The open weave of Waro cotton quickly absorbs moisture and dries twice as fast as a traditional towel. The result: you’ll never have a damp, cold fouta in your bag. And the more you wash it, the more it absorbs.

No, and that’s exactly where Waro makes a difference. A high-quality fouta shouldn’t cost as much as a luxury accessory just to be beautiful and durable. At Waro, we offer carefully woven cotton foutas at an affordable price, because value for money is a philosophy, not a promotion. Investing in a Waro fouta means you’ll never have to buy a new one every summer.

Absolutely. It’s actually one of the most compelling reasons for customers to buy it. A Waro fouta can be worn as a sarong over a swimsuit, as a shawl on cool summer evenings, as a light cover-up at the market, or as a blanket on a plane. Its flat weave and colors designed to complement each other make it a stylish accessory in its own right—not just a towel you stash in a bag.

This is a valid question, because the market is flooded with foutas marketed as “cotton” that actually contain some polyester. At Waro, the composition is transparent: natural cotton, with no synthetic blends. The test is simple: natural cotton absorbs water immediately, breathes against the skin, and doesn’t generate static electricity. If your fouta sticks to your skin or takes a long time to absorb moisture, it’s not real cotton. Waro foutas pass this test with flying colors.

The fouta, the trendy alternative to the beach towel

We’re all familiar with the beach towel. Thick, heavy, bulky in your bag, slow to dry, and invariably full of sand by the end of the day. It gets the job done, but without really standing out. The fouta, on the other hand, has taken a different path.

Woven from 100% cotton with a light, airy, and breathable weave, the fouta dries two to three times faster than a traditional towel. It absorbs moisture just as well, but offers a freedom that the traditional towel has never been able to provide. Folded, it fits in the corner of a bag. Unfolded, it transforms into a towel, a sarong, or a light throw for cooler evenings.

And what about sand? It just slides right off. While a terry cloth towel traps sand in its fibers and brings it home with you, the Waro fouta shakes it off with a single flick. A small detail that makes all the difference when you spend your days between the sea and the sand.
