Grey king-size bedspread in soft fleece, set on a bed with beige linen and wooden bedside table, for a warm, minimalist ambience.

How to choose the size of your bedspread?

The right bedspread overhangs the mattress on each side. Measure the width of your mattress and add twice its height: that gives you the minimum width of the bedspread. For a 140 × 190 or 160 × 200 cm bed, a large size such as 220 × 240 cm or more is recommended. The dimensions of each model are given on its product page.

Fleece or faux fur bedspread?

The fleece bedspread is light, warm and easy to wash: ideal for everyday use. The faux fur bedspread brings a spectacular cocoon effect and real presence to the bedroom, with no animal material. Both come in easy-to-match natural tones.

Bedspread, throw or coverlet?

The throw sits at the foot of the bed or on the sofa. The bedspread covers the whole bed and keeps you warm in winter. The coverlet, thinner, dresses the bed in summer and mid-season. Many people alternate them with the seasons.

Creating a cosy bed

Start with a fleece bedding set, warm from bedtime. Add the bedspread, then a double-layer throw folded at the foot of the bed and a few faux fur cushions. Stick to two or three colours for a harmonious look, for example beige and white.

Care

Follow your bedspread's care label. Check that your machine can take a large size; otherwise, use a laundrette. Gentle detergent, no fabric softener, and dry flat in the open air.

Your questions about the bedspread

What size bedspread should I choose?

The bedspread should overhang the mattress on each side to drape well. For a 140 × 190 or 160 × 200 cm bed, choose a large size, such as 220 × 240 cm, or more if you want it to reach the floor. Measure the width of the mattress plus twice its height, then compare with the dimensions given on the product page.

Fleece or faux fur bedspread?

What's the difference between a bedspread, a throw and a coverlet?

The throw is smaller: it sits at the foot of the bed or on a sofa. The bedspread covers the whole bed and keeps you warm in winter. The coverlet is thinner and mainly used to dress the bed. For a complete cosy bed, combine bedspread, fleece bedding set and a throw.
