In summary

  • ✅ Always wash at a maximum temperature of 30°C, regardless of the fabric
  • ✅ Use a mild liquid detergent—never powder or 3-in-1 capsules
  • ✅ Must be dried flat or in the open air — the dryer damages the fibers
  • ✅ No fabric softener: it weighs down the fibers and reduces softness
  • ✅ Wool = wool cycle only, lay flat to dry, no heat

1. Why It's Essential to Care for a Throw

A high-quality throw can last for several years… provided it’s cared for properly. In fact, nearly 70% of the loss of softness in textiles is due to improper washing or excessively high temperatures, not natural wear and tear.

At Waro, we select materials designed to last: soft fleece, dense faux fur, natural wool, or breathable cotton. But even the best fibers need proper care to retain their original texture.

Proper care helps to:

• preserve the throw’s
loft • prevent premature
pilling • maintain softness wash after wash
• keep colors vibrant for longer

In most cases, a gentle wash at 30°C or lower is more than enough to protect the fibers without damaging them.

2. How to Wash Each Type of Waro Throw

Subject Temperature Program Drying Laundry Detergent
Fleece 30°C max Delicate Outdoors Sweet
Faux Fur 30° max Delicate—required Flat + brushing Sweet liquid
Wool Cold water Wool Program Flat only Wool Special
Cotton 30° max Strong or mild Flat Sweet
Bedspread 30° max Sweet Natural air No bleach

2.1 Fleece blanket — the easiest to care for

The fleece throw can be machine-washed, but only on the gentle cycle.

• Maximum
30°C • Delicate
cycle • No fabric softener or bleach
• Use a liquid detergent specifically formulated for delicate fabrics •
Air-dry flat to prevent the fabric from losing its shape

Avoid powder detergents, 3-in-1 capsules, and detergent pods

A dryer or any direct heat source can break the fibers and significantly reduce softness.

2.2 Faux Fur Blanket — Soft and Delicate

This fabric requires extra care to maintain its voluminous appearance.

 • Delicate cycle required
• Use a liquid detergent specifically designed for delicate
fabrics • Lay flat to
dry • Gently brush after drying

Avoid powder detergents, 3-in-1 capsules, and detergent pods

A dryer or any direct heat source can break down the fibers and significantly reduce softness.

2.3 Fleece and faux fur accessories

Same care instructions as for throws.

• Maximum
30°C • Delicate
cycle • Mild
liquid detergent • Air
dry • Do not iron

2.4 Bedspread — Preserving Volume

Drying is key.

• Wash
at 30°C • Do not use bleach or fabric softener
• Air
dry • Avoid excessive heat

2.5 Wool throw — a smart natural material

Wool requires few washes.

• Wool cycle only
• Special wool
detergent • Dry flat
• Do not tumble dry

Excessive heat can permanently felt the wool.

2.6 Cotton throw — simple yet delicate

• Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle
cycle • Cold water recommended
• Lay flat
to dry • Iron on low heat if necessary

3. Mistakes That Damage Fibers

Even a high-quality throw can quickly lose its softness due to poor care habits. Most damaged textiles are ruined by excessive heat, improper drying, or the wrong detergent.

Here are the most common mistakes you should absolutely avoid to keep your Waro throw in great condition season after season.

Error Consequence
Washing at too high a temperature 30°C max
Use a dryer set to a high temperature 30° max
Wool Cold water
Cotton 30° max
Bedspread 30° max

Your Questions About Caring for Waro Throws

This is not required, but it is recommended for new items. A gentle initial wash at 30°C helps soften the fibers and remove manufacturing residues.

It all depends on how often it's used: a sofa throw can be washed every 3 to 6 weeks, while a decorative throw or one that's rarely used can be washed much less frequently.

Drying flat or in the open air is ideal. Avoid hanging it up when it is very damp, as the weight of the water can stretch certain fibers, such as cotton or faux fur.

Not recommended. Fabrics such as wool, fleece, or faux fur have different care requirements. It's best to wash each type of fabric separately to avoid excessive friction.

Yes. A gentle wash followed by air-drying is often enough to restore its volume. For faux fur, a light brushing can also help restore its original appearance.

4. Our tips for keeping your throw soft longer

Proper care alone isn't enough: a few simple steps make all the difference.

  • Air out the throw regularly
  • Brush the throw to remove any debris (pilling, loose threads, etc.)
  • Avoid washing it too often
  • Always wash at 30°C or lower
  • Must be air-dried
  • Store in a dry place when not in use
